Ordering High Resolution Imagery

To order high resolution imagery, send an email request to brenard@fsu.edu with the following information:

  • County or counties you are requesting (or statewide)
  • Year (for statewide coverage, most current year available is provided)
  • Format (MrSid or tif)
  • Contact Name
  • Mailing Address
  • Telephone number

Once your request is received, we will contact you before your order is processed to verify your imagery request. Your imagery will be loaded on an external hard drive and mailed to the address provided in the request. Due to security concerns, we no longer accept hard drives from clients for imagery requests. All imagery will be loaded on a 500 gb hard drive that is included in the cost of the data request. An invoice will be included for the cost of the data load. The cost is $110, plus tax (7.5%) and shipping (via FedEx, $15). Typical turnaround time for data orders is 3-5 business days. Please note that for data requests that exceed the capacity of a 500 gb hard drive, additional hard drives would be used to complete the request and the cost of additional drives will be $110 each (plus tax and shipping). We now have 1tb hard drives available for large data. $150 each (plus requests for tax and shipping).

If you only need a few images, they can be downloaded directly from the LABINS website. Directions for this process are on the right side of this page.

Downloading High Resolution Imagery

There are 2 ways to download hi-res imagery for individual cells:

1. Download for up to nine neighboring cells:

Quick-Start Instructions:

  1. Navigate to www.labins.org.
  2. Select the Map Interface in the left side of the Survey Data box to open the Interactive Map.
  3. Navigate to your area of interest. Be sure to zoom in close.
  4. Activate the black "i" ("identify") button in the toolbar.
  5. Click the map. A pop-up window will appear. (Be sure to have pop-up blockers off.)
  6. Scroll to the bottom of the pop-up window for hi-res information. The images shown will include the image at the location you clicked on the map, along with the 8 surrounding images.
  7. For each image, right-click to download. Be sure to download associated files also (.sdw and .aux).

More Details on the Download Process:

  • There is a new grid system for hi-res images. Actually 3 of them -- one for each State Plane zone.
  • To see the grids on the map, open the "Geographic Boundaries" folder in the Map Layers tab on the map.
  • Be sure to turn on the grid associated with the State Plane zone where the map is located. Some zones overlap, so please be careful. (Turning on the wrong grid has no effect on the data that you download, but it may be confusing if you have the wrong one turned on.)
  • If you don't see any reference to high-res imagery after performing an "identify," zoom in closer and try again.

2. Download for one cell at a time:

Quick-Start Instructions:

  1. Navigate to Search for High-Resolution Images page.
  2. Choose the state plane zone for the image to download.
  3. Type the grid ID for the cell you want. If you don't know the grid ID, open the appropriate county map.
  4. Click "Search for Hi-Res Images."
  5. For each image, right-click to download. Be sure to download associated files also (.sdw and .aux).
